Waterton

The Place...

A magical undiscovered corner of Alberta, widely regarded as a hidden gem.  The oldest sedimentary rock on earth rises dramatically from the surrounding grasslands in towering red, yellow and green banded peaks.  Grizzlies, wolves, cougar, wolverine, bighorn sheep and mountain goat - all are found here in abundance. And since Aldeo operates in the shoulder season - you may see as many animals as people here during your stay.

According to Blackfoot indigenous legend, this is where the world was born. Waterton was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995 due to its superlative scenery and abundant flora and fauna. The park was declared an International Dark Sky Preserve in 2007. And, together with Glacier National Park located across the U.S. border in Montana, Waterton was declared the World's first International Peace Park  in 1932. Which is why we selected Waterton  as the ideal location to launch Aldeo.

Working...

Waterton is quiet, remote and inspiring. If you need a place to focus your creativity to complete a graphics, writing or programming project, this is it.  Surprisingly, despite  its remote location, Waterton has had a fibre optic Internet connection for over a decade.

The Waterton coworking studio is located on the second floor of the Waterton Park Lodge with views out to the surrounding mountains. The studio comes complete with complimentary 100 mbps wifi access, refreshments, a meeting room, and multifunction printer access.

Playing...

In spring and autumn, Waterton provides some of the best hiking, wind and kite surfing in the Canadian Rockies. The Red Rock Canyon and Cameron Lake roads are closed to autos and provide spectacular cycling.

Once the snow flies, the terrain opens up to front and back-country skiing and snowshoeing. On windy days, skate on the protected ice of Linnet Lake. And when the powder lays on thick, the alpine resorts of Castle and Fernie are only an hour 's drive by our shuttle away.

Logistics...

Waterton is a 3 hour drive from Calgary International Airport and is a 45 minute drive from the nearest grocery stores, pharmacies and medical services in Pincher Creek or Cardston.

A couple restaurants and cafes remain open in the off season but let's just say you aren't coming to Waterton for the nightlife.

Aldeo provides a shuttle service and a full-time concierge to support all of our residents.
